How to Make 2025 Your BEST YEAR - 6 Questions to Ask Yourself

In today’s post we’ll chat thru…

① 6 Questions to ask to make 2025 YOUR BEST YEAR
② And how you can join us for the 2025 Unstoppable Self Vision Board Workshop

LET’S DIVE IN. 🖤

Hello, hello friends and welcome to the FINAL podcast episode of 2024! Can you believe we’re already here, wrapping up another year? First off, I just want to take a moment to thank YOU. Whether this is your first episode or your 101st, you’ve been a part of an incredible journey this year. Together, we’ve navigated challenges, celebrated wins, and, most importantly, shown up for ourselves. And that’s the PROCESS friends. Showing up. Growing thru what we’re going thru. Taking care of ourselves along the way. Learning and relearning lessons. All of it. And I love that we get to navigate it all here in this space, together.

As we look ahead to 2025, I want to help you reflect on this past year and get crystal clear about what you want for the next. This is a ritual we do EVERY YEAR in our household and one that has had a PROFOUND impact on the way I show up year after year and move the needle forward. It’s simple, but gosh is it powerful.

You know, so many times we get to this point of the year and all we want to do is SET THE GOAL and move at full steam ahead. And friends, while you’re gonna witness most everyone around you lean into the HYPE of a New Year, I want you to lean into the PROCESS. And the process isn’t always about motion. Sometimes, it’s about slowing down long enough to even know where you are and what the heck you even desire.

Today I’m going to ask you six simple, yet powerful, questions that will set you up to make 2025 your BEST year yet. We’ll dive into reflection, goal setting, and take a close look at ALL of the categories of your life so I can help you create a holistic plan for wellness and your growth this year. More often than not, resolutions revolve around two things - money and health. And maybe those categories need focus for you. Amazing. Set the goals. But maybe those aren’t really aligned with you right now and that’s okay, too. This year I don’t want you to mindlessly do what everyone else is doing, but rather, get CRYSTAL CLEAR on what actually matters to YOU. And that’s what we’re gonna do here together today. I’m gonna walk you thru each of these questions one by one and I’m super excited about how EMPOWERED you are going to feel after our time together.

But before I get to that…I wanted to take this ritual beyond our time together and simply me talking at you and so I am excited to share that I’ve created a FREE workbook for you to download as a companion tool to today’s episode. It’s beautiful (bc you know I love a good aesthetic vibe, right?!) and it’s PACKED with prompts and tools and inspiration to help you work through these six questions at your own pace. You can snag it for FREE that at www.inspirebeautybritt.com/bestyear ….that’s inspirebeautybritt.com/bestyear . I’ll even have that in the show notes below for you. And hey, if you’re loving this…I’ve actually got a little something EXTRA for you on top of all that — once you snag your workbook you’ll also be invited to join me for my annual Unstoppable Self Vision Board Workshop where we’ll go EVEN DEEPER into everything I’m covering today to set you up for making 2025 YOUR BEST YEAR. More on that later, but trust me, you won’t want to miss it.

6 QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF TO MAKE 2025 YOUR BEST YEAR EVER:

Before I ask you these six questions, I want to share a little metaphor that might help you really wrap your head around how we tend to miss the mark when it comes to goal setting and why REFLECTION is a hill I will die on. Imagine you’re on a road trip, ready to head out on an epic vacation. You grab your phone, open your GPS, and type in the address of where you want to go. But there’s a problem—it keeps saying, “Starting location required.” Without knowing where you are right now, the GPS can’t map a route to where you want to be. And here’s the thing: life works the same way. If we don’t take a moment to pull over, pause, and check in on where we’re currently at—our wins, our struggles, our lessons—there’s no way to truly chart the path to where we want to go next. And at the very least, this process SAVES US TIME bc we don’t wind up aimlessly wandering. Reflection gives us clarity and focus. And it’s the starting point for every journey worth taking. So, before we dive ALL IN on 2025, let’s get clear on where we’re currently AT. I promise you’re gonna learn SO SO MUCH about yourself as we go thru these 6 questions together today. And if you’re driving in your car, running errands, at the gym, or wherever you’re listening to my voice, you can just keep listening as I walk you thru these questions. And then what you’re probably gonna want to do is, you’re probably gonna want to come BACK to the episode after you download your free workbook at inspirebeautybritt.com/bestyear and dive even deeper into the wisdom contained in each of these q’s. And one more thing you’re gonna want to do is SHARE this episode and experience with your friends and family. This process I’m walking you thru is the exact framework we use in our household to set ourselves up for a FOCUSED + INTENTIONAL year. So do this with your friends. Do this with your family. Do this with your team at work or your mastermind group. When I do this exercise with OTHERS, it’s so fun to see what was meaningful and important in THEIR years, but also they remind me of my blindspots and what I might be missing about my journey. And so, you’ll find the same thing, too, when you share this with your friends and family.

Okay. Are you ready? Me too. So…the first 3 questions are REFLECTION BASED where we look back on 2024. And the final three questions I’m asking are going to help you identify what habits, behaviors, and routines you want to adopt in the coming year to help you make lasting and transformational change.

What went well in 2024? What can you celebrate?

Think back over the past 12 months and start collecting all the highlights, wins, and moments worth celebrating from the past year. Month by month I want you to think thru what went well, what memories do you want to hold onto because they were so rich and wonderful?

A few tips for this bc your memory is NOT gonna work here. You’ve forgotten so many of the small wins. Seriously…try to think of what went well RIGHT NOW in January and you might have a hard time coming up with anything. So a few tips to help you uncover your wins:

✻ Scroll Through Your Camera Roll:
Your photos tell a story and if you’re the type that takes pics of everything this is gonna be so helpful. Look at the moments you captured—big or small. Whether it’s a new recipe you nailed, a gathering with friends, quiet mornings, that sunset that caught your attention and you had to document it, your camera roll is an amazing place to remember all those tiny moments from the year.

✻ Check Your Social Media:
Browse through your posts, stories, or even the comments from others. These moments often highlight things worth celebrating, even if you didn’t think much of them at the time. My favorite place to live life outloud is in my IG stories so I love to look thru the archive of this on my phone to remind me of all the small ways I was winning or even just really consistent this past year. Sometimes I get so hard on myself when it comes to the process that this helps me look back and give myself credit for the WAY I SHOWED UP.

✻ Review Your Planner or Calendar:
Flip through your planner or calendar. Look at events, appointments, or even your to-do lists to recall what you accomplished throughout the year. Making that appointment to finally seek out help for your depression mattered. Getting a sitter and scheduling that date night to put the spark back into your marriage mattered. Hosting that summer BBQ with neighbors who are now friends meant something. Mark it all down.

✻ Revisit Your Emails or Messages:
Scroll through your inbox or text threads to find moments of joy or memories + milestones —maybe it’s a thank-you, a solved problem or the right answer at the right time, or a conversation with someone you reconnected with. These matter so mark them down.

✻ Ask the People Around You:
This is why I said it’s so powerful to do this exercise with OTHERS. Sometimes, others remember our wins better than we do or even REMEMBER certain moments that slip our memory. Ask friends, family, or colleagues what they think went well for you this year. Their insights can be incredibly affirming.

When you pull out all of these tools you’re going to be SHOCKED at how many WINS you actually experienced this year. Our default is to forget the good and remember the bad. It’s simply the way the brain is wired. So we’re going to be strategic and actually put ourselves in the position to find ALL the wins. And I want it exhaustive. When I look thru my camera roll, I remember things that easily would slip thru the cracks. For example, January…if you asked me about January of last year I’d have nothing. But when I look at my camera roll, I see I hosted the FIRST ANNUAL Unstoppable Self Vision Board Workshop, I remember that we hit 1K downloads on the podcast and that was a big deal, Charles and I took a lot of sunset beach walks which was so therapeutic for our souls. Guys. It’s the SMALL STUFF that becomes the BIG STUFF, ya know? And so I challenge you…go seek out and celebrate ALL of the wins, the tinier, the BETTER.

Okay…jumping into question TWO…but I want to remind you that you can get a FREE download from me that pairs perfectly with each of these Q’s.

What challenges did you face in 2024?

Phones, photos, and planners are going to be really helpful to remind yourself of all the hard things you faced, are maybe still facing, and even made it THRU this year. But I don’t want to simply have you dump out all the CRAP on a paper bc if you’re anything like me, you might tend to get stuck in one area of life. Maybe work or finances haven’t been your forte, but I wanna stretch you to look at what was challenging BEYOND your default response. Bc we all have one…that default challenge that we can’t seem to shake.

Instead, I want you to use a tool I give to my clients where we break down ALL THE CATEGORIES of a well-rounded self. I use 8 categories with my clients and they are:

MENTAL/EMOTIONAL.
PHYSICAL.
ENVIRONMENTAL.
PROFESSIONAL.
SPIRITUAL.
RELATIONAL.
RECREATIONAL.
AND FINANCIAL.

When we can look into each category it broadens our view of our journeys and reminds us that we are SO SO INTRICATE. We aren’t just physical selves that can’t seem to shake those 20 pounds yet again. We aren’t just workhorses that center our value and worth on our paychecks and productivity. No. We are WHOLE BEINGS with a lot of intricacies and I want you to start viewing yourself in that way. So when I look at each category I can think about the challenges I faced for each. For example:

MENTAL./EMOTIONAL.

Maybe this was the year you found yourself crying more easily and being hyper sensitive. Why do you think that is? Or maybe this year you finally advocated for your mental health and that journey towards healing has been so so challenging.

PHYSICAL.
Maybe this was the year you struggled with low energy, aches, or pains that made it hard to stay active. Or perhaps you found yourself neglecting basic self-care, like getting enough sleep, drinking water, or nourishing your body the way you know it needs.

ENVIRONMENTAL.
Maybe this was the year your surroundings felt more chaotic than calming—piles of clutter, unfinished projects, or a space that didn’t feel like home. Or maybe you faced challenges like a move, repairs, or simply not having the time or resources to create the environment you envisioned.

PROFESSIONAL.
Maybe this was the year you felt stuck or uninspired in your work, unsure of how to move forward. Or perhaps you were stretched thin by expectations, faced a setback like losing a job or being passed over for an opportunity, or even wrestled with imposter syndrome.

SPIRITUAL.
Maybe this was the year you felt distant from your faith or struggled to connect with something bigger than yourself. Or perhaps you found it challenging to carve out time for quiet reflection, prayer, or practices that typically help you feel grounded and at peace.

RELATIONAL.
Maybe this was the year you felt isolated or disconnected from the people who matter most. Or perhaps you faced relational challenges like a falling out, struggling to set boundaries, or finding it hard to nurture friendships amidst a busy schedule.

RECREATIONAL.
Maybe this was the year you realized how little time you made for fun or creativity. Or perhaps you felt stretched trying to balance responsibilities, leaving little energy for hobbies, relaxation, or spontaneous joy.

FINANCIAL.
Maybe this was the year unexpected expenses threw off your plans, or you found it hard to manage debt, savings, or spending habits. Or perhaps you avoided looking at your finances altogether because it felt overwhelming or discouraging.

When you take the time to reflect on the challenges you’ve faced across EVERY area of your life, I think you’re going to be surprised. You’ll see how much you’ve endured, navigated, and maybe even conquered this year. It’s also an opportunity to give yourself GRACE that you’ve been thru a lot. Our brains often default to the big, glaring struggles, but when you dig deeper, you’ll also see the small ways you were stretched — the moments you might have brushed off or forgotten entirely or even stuffed down to “deal with later.” Maybe it was the sleepless nights worrying about something at work, or the cluttered corner of your home you never quite got to, or the way you put off joy because everything else felt more urgent. These challenges are part of your story, and they’ve shaped you this year. I want you to honor the strength it takes to wake up everyday and BE YOU. Don’t diminish what you’re facing and what’s heavy. Acknowledge it and then realize that maybe not all of this is meant for you to carry, right? This exercise isn’t about beating yourself up; it’s about seeing the full picture of your journey and using it to move forward with clarity and grace. Which leads me into Question 3:

What did you learn (or relearn) about yourself this year?

If challenges are the teachers, then the lessons are the gifts they leave behind. This question is where we start unwrapping those gifts and seeking wisdom from what each challenge can teach us. So. What did 2024 TEACH YOU about who you are, what you’re capable of, and maybe even what you still need to work on?

Now, before you rush to answer, let me say this: it’s easy to skip over this step or brush it off with something generic like, “Oh, I learned I’m resilient.” But I want you to dig deeper than that. I want you to get specific.

Take a moment to reflect on your wins and challenges from Questions 1 and 2. What patterns do you notice? What strengths showed up again and again—even when you didn’t feel strong? What weaknesses became more apparent and maybe need some TLC in the year ahead?

Here’s a tool to help: Think back to those same 8 categories of a well-rounded self. Each one holds a unique lesson if you’re willing to look for it.

  • MENTAL/EMOTIONAL. Maybe you learned that your emotions aren’t the enemy—they’re signals trying to tell you something. Or perhaps you relearned how much better you feel when you talk things out instead of bottling them up.

  • PHYSICAL. Maybe this was the year you realized how important rest really is. Or perhaps you discovered that small, consistent habits matter more than perfect plans.

  • ENVIRONMENTAL. Maybe you learned that the clutter around you directly impacts your mental clarity. Or perhaps you realized that your space feels more like you when you add personal touches, even if it’s just a plant or a candle.

  • PROFESSIONAL. Maybe you relearned that your value isn’t tied to your productivity. Or perhaps you discovered that taking risks—even scary ones—can lead to big rewards.

  • SPIRITUAL. Maybe you learned that you feel most connected to your faith or purpose in the quiet moments, not the big, grand gestures. Or maybe you realized it’s okay to have doubts and questions—they’re part of the journey, too.

  • RELATIONAL. Maybe you discovered that you need fewer people in your circle, but deeper connections. Or maybe you learned the power of setting boundaries and how it protects both your energy and your relationships.

  • RECREATIONAL. Maybe you realized that joy doesn’t have to come from big adventures—it can be found in the small, simple pleasures, like reading a book or taking a walk.

  • FINANCIAL. Maybe you learned how much your mindset impacts your money habits. Or perhaps you discovered that your relationship with money is less about numbers and more about your sense of security and freedom.

Here’s the truth: There is so much to discover about ourselves if we’re willing to pay attention. The lessons you learned this year aren’t just nice to know—they’re tools for building the life you want in 2025. And if you feel like you keep getting the same lesson over and over again…as a former teacher I’m gonna nudge you that maybe you’re not passing the test. So, I challenge you to not just write these lessons down but to really own them.

What’s one lesson that will shape how you show up next year?

What’s something you’ve relearned that you don’t want to forget again?

This is the bridge between reflection and action. The more clarity you have about what this year taught you, the more intentional you can be about carrying those lessons forward. The next three questions are gonna help us get curious about growth and step boldly into what’s next in a way that feels really ALIGNED with where we’re at.

DON’T FORGET TO SNAG A FREE “YOUR BEST YEAR EVER” REFLECTION WORKBOOK TO PAIR WITH THESE Q’s

What do you need to KEEP doing in 2025? What’s currently working that you can maintain?

I know the default here is to first dive in an ask ourselves what we want to change, but BEFORE we do that, let’s not forget about the things that are ALREADY WORKING. There are SO MANY THINGS in your life that are working well. I hope thru the reflection you saw hints of that. Not everything in life needs a full on overhaul. This is where I like to pause and RATE each area of a well-rounded self. Areas that have been on the back-burner and get a 0 need attention ASAP. Areas with a 5, maybe you want to nudge some shifts. And things that are current 10’s, gosh, how can you maintain that, right? Not everything is on fire so let’s acknowledge the habits, behaviors, and routines, you made this year that brought you joy, progress, or fulfillment.

Bc here’s the thing: It’s easy to overlook what’s going well because it doesn’t scream for attention the way challenges do. But what’s already working for you doesn’t need to be fixed—it needs to be nurtured.

Let’s use those 8 categories to guide you again:

  • MENTAL/EMOTIONAL. Maybe you’ve built a habit of journaling when you’re feeling overwhelmed, and it’s been a game-changer for your clarity.

  • PHYSICAL. Maybe your morning walks or your yoga practice have helped you feel more centered and strong.

  • ENVIRONMENTAL. Perhaps you started tidying up your space for 10 minutes each evening, and it’s made your mornings less stressful.

  • PROFESSIONAL. Maybe you’ve found a rhythm in your work-life balance that’s left you feeling more fulfilled and less drained.

  • SPIRITUAL. Perhaps attending a weekly faith-based gathering or having a regular prayer practice has anchored you.

  • RELATIONAL. Maybe you’ve been consistent about scheduling family dinners or calling a friend every week, and it’s deepened your relationships.

  • RECREATIONAL. Perhaps you’ve been carving out time for creative hobbies, and it’s reignited your sense of joy.

  • FINANCIAL. Maybe you’ve started tracking your spending, and it’s brought you peace of mind.

Take a moment to honor these things. They may not feel flashy or groundbreaking, but they’re the foundation of your progress and they’re also really easy to forget to give ourselves credit for. What you choose to keep doing is just as important as what you change.

⑤ What do you need to STOP doing in 2025?

Okay. Now it’s time to get honest with yourself. What’s no longer serving you? What habits, commitments, relationships, or mindsets have you outgrown? If you rated your 8 categories with me a second ago, then you most likely have a visual of what’s been on the back burner and this can give us a sneaky clue about what has been sabotaging your efforts or time to bring those things to the front.

Stopping something can be uncomfortable, but it’s also freeing. Imagine carrying a backpack full of rocks—you’ve been lugging it around for so long that you’ve forgotten how heavy it is. What would it feel like to set that weight down?

Let’s look at the 8 categories again:

  • MENTAL/EMOTIONAL. Maybe you need to stop replaying negative self-talk that holds you back.

  • PHYSICAL. Perhaps it’s time to stop neglecting rest or committing to yo-yo workout or health trends that drain rather than energize you.

  • ENVIRONMENTAL. Maybe it’s letting go of holding onto clutter or saying yes to every home project when your plate is already full.

  • PROFESSIONAL. Perhaps you need to stop saying yes to tasks that don’t align with your long-term goals.

  • SPIRITUAL. Maybe you need to stop skipping the quiet moments you know ground you. Maybe busy and rush and hurry are eating away at your spirit.

  • RELATIONAL. Perhaps it’s time to stop chasing relationships that feel one-sided or don’t respect your boundaries.

  • RECREATIONAL. Maybe it’s letting go of the idea that fun has to look a certain way—it’s okay to redefine what play means for you.

  • FINANCIAL. Perhaps you need to stop avoiding conversations about money or making impulse purchases that leave you stressed.

This step is about creating space for what truly matters. Loosening your grip on the things that are holding you back. Letting go of what no longer serves this next evolution of you. Friends. Letting go isn’t always a loss; sometimes it’s essentail to create space for all we desire to gain.

⑥ What do you need to START doing in 2025?

Okay. We’ve made it! Finally, it’s time to look forward. Do you see why most people who start here on NYE end up in cancel, quit culture by mid January? There is ZERO clarity and at this point, I love that for you, you’re ready to start setting soem meaningful goals in EVERY area of your life.

So think. What new habits, behaviors, or routines do you need to start in 2025 in order to create the life you truly crave? This isn’t about doing more; it’s about doing what aligns with your values, your vision, and your goals. This is where we care more about the ACTIONS and less about the OUTCOMES, knowing that it’s your ACTIONS that you start this year, that will lead to the outcomes you desire. Think of this as planting seeds. The plant doesn’t grow overnight. There is a PROCESS. What’s one small thing you can start doing in January that will grow into something beautiful by December?

Consider the 8 categories:

  • MENTAL/EMOTIONAL. Maybe it’s starting therapy or a mindfulness practice to better manage stress.

  • PHYSICAL. Perhaps it’s starting a morning stretch routine to ease into your day.

  • ENVIRONMENTAL. Maybe it’s starting to bring more nature into your home—plants, sunlight, or even just cracking open a window more often.

  • PROFESSIONAL. Perhaps it’s starting to block out time for deep work or learning a skill that will help you grow in your career.

  • SPIRITUAL. Maybe it’s starting to journal about gratitude or join a group that supports your faith.

  • RELATIONAL. Perhaps it’s starting to check in with a loved one weekly or scheduling regular date nights.

  • RECREATIONAL. Maybe it’s starting a hobby you’ve always wanted to try or saying yes to more playful moments.

  • FINANCIAL. Perhaps it’s starting to build a savings habit, no matter how small, or creating a money mindset that empowers you.

Starting something new doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Small, intentional changes can lead to massive growth over time. What’s one thing you can start this month that future you will thank you for?

Would you like me to adjust or expand any of these sections?
