Okay okay…let’s transition into today’s topic.

HOW DO YOU ACTUALLY CREATE WHAT YOU CRAVE?!

It’s a mantra I talk about all the time in The Self Care Sisterhood Community bc I believe a deep piece of self care that we don’t focus enough on is taking OWNERSHIP + RESPONSIBILITY over our lives. To create what we crave and build lives we’re OBSESSED with. Creating what you crave rolls off the tongue though and it can be easy to listen to episodes where I share this mantra leaving pumped up, but without tangible action steps to take you towards WHAT IT IS YOU CRAVE. Today I wanted to break down a framework I’ve developed for “CREATING WHAT YOU CRAVE” and how I apply it into my own life to take VISIONS that are on my heart and turn them into REALITY.

But first…some real talk. We need to let go of this idea that creating what we crave will be effortless. Creating an intentional and fulfilling life is HARD. But you know what’s harder?

Dreading getting up every morning.
Dragging yourself thru your days.
Living on autopilot where every day feels like the movie Ground Hogs Day.
Saying things like “I’m fine” or “busy” when people ask “how are you?”

The HARD comes when you realize just how numbered your days are and that the things I shared above are how you spent your precious time. The hard is a feeling of regret over never really going for it. Coasting. Surviving.

Creating what you crave is HARD. And NOT CREATING WHAT YOU CRAVE is also hard. Choose your hard, right? Let’s stop shying away from things that are hard in the moment but ultimately build us a deeply intentional and fulfilling life long term. Here’s how I do that… 🖤

CREATING WHAT YOU CRAVE is a 5 part framework. I like to think of it like an upside down triangle where we take a broad vision for your life and then bridge the gap between that and your day to day life right here and now. You start from the top and work your way down throughout the year, but as the triangle gets smaller, those are the tasks that allow you to work your way back UP to achieving the vision.

① ANNUAL REFLECTION + VISION CASTING

When: Before the start of a new year.

Why: ESTABLISH GOALS + VISION – this is your chance to reflect on the past year and intentionally cast vision and establish goals for the coming year. We do this every year in this space with our UNSTOPPABLE SELF VISION WORKSHOP. And my encouragement for you if you haven’t set a vision for yourself, is to snag the WORKSHOP BUNDLE and start there. And then before the start of next year, take some time to get clear on your vision and establish goals that align with that vision so you can spend your best time and energy living the life you desire.

Things I do:

~ REFLECT on the previous year.

~ Cast a VISION using The Unstoppable Self Vision Board Workshop (this includes all 8 pillars of a well blended self)

~ PLAN each CATEGORY into the calendar (I give myself a general idea of when I want to work on these goals).

② QUARTERLY CHECK INS

When: At the start of a fresh quarter (January, April, July, October)

Why: It’s a moment to slow down and intentionally look at what’s working and what’s not. It’s a chance to assess whether your goals are in alignment with your overall vision and to tweak any methods / actions / behaviors that aren’t leading you closer to where you desire to move. One of the reasons we don’t create those things we crave is that we fall off the wagon and never pause to look at what was working and what wasn’t. This is your chance to kind of “catch yourself” before you stray too far off the path. Sometimes, the goal isn’t the problem, right? It’s simply that we got off track. This is your chance to do so.

Things I do:

~ REFLECT on the last 3 months.

~ REALIGN my VISION with my current season (some goals may no longer be for you and that’s okay...and you may realize you’d like to explore new goals. this is when we figure this out)

~ PREP my goals + projects for the next three months.

~ PLAN for HIGHLIGHTS/MEMORIES/FUN in the calendar.

③ MONTHLY GAME PLAN

When: At the end of each month.

Why: Having a monthly plan + prep meeting allows me the chance to take my quarterly goals + focus and break them down into a broader action plan. Each month I can create FOCUSED GOALS in my personal and professional life that help me move the needle forward on my bigger goals. This is something we do TOGETHER every month in The Sisterhood Membership, for good reason. In order to live with FOCUS + INTENTION, you have to create FOCUS + INTENTION. This is my chance each month to decide where I’m driving my goals and the direction I’m going.

Things I do:

~ REFLECT on the past month. (start, stop, keep is a great method here!)

~ PLAN out my goals for the next month.

~ PLAN for HIGHLIGHTS/MEMORIES/FUN in the calendar.

~ PLAN + PRINT out my MOVEMENT calendar for the month

④ WEEKLY PREP + INTENTIONS

When: At the top of each week (usually Sunday evening).

Why: This is when I create a SPECIFIC ACTION for each goal. Weekly prep meetings help you intentionally prep for the coming week so you know where to spend your time and energy and what your Top 3 tasks are for the week. Each week, set aside some time for your weekly prep meeting so you can go into the next week knowing what your top priorities are to keep you on track for your goals, as well as what’s coming up this week that you need to give your attention to.

Things I do:

~ SCHEDULE OUT my week (health, rest, work, meals, social events, church, etc)

~ WRITE out my TOP THREE GOALS/TASKS for the week. These are a broken down version of my BIG GOAL for the month.

~ DEFINE what HABITS I WANT TO TRACK each week.

~ MEAL PLAN for the week (I do this on Thursdays)

⑤ DAILY FOCUS

When: At the top of each day (or can be done as part of your PM routine)

Why: This last part is where I’m taking my specific actions and turning them into daily TO-DO’s. Each day I create a focus surrounding tasks from my weekly prep meeting. If one of my monthly goals is to revamp my website home page, the weekly goal could be completing all of the new graphics, and a daily goal could be working on the graphics and the next day, maybe uploading all of them. This is where we simplify your bigger goals into bite size chunks.

Things I do:

~ TIME BLOCK my day

~ WRITE out my THREE FOCUS TASKS + give those to blocks of time

~ TRACK my DAILY HABITS + TO DO’s

Now that you have a clear understanding of the framework + flow behind “creating what you crave” you can actually get out there and put it into practice. Let me show you how I applied this to one of my goals on my VISION BOARD for 2024.

  • THE BIG GOAL ON MY VISION BOARD WAS - build a deck for the backyard.

  • THE NEXT STEP IS TO DECIDE WHEN THIS GOAL GETS YOUR FOCUS - for this particular goal, it was going to be a Q2 project. some goals will be ongoing for the year, some might need specific time periods. this is when you decide when it gets your focus and for how long

  • THEN I BREAK DOWN THE ACTIONS FOR EACH MONTH -

    • research how to build a deck - feb.

    • purchase materials + supplies + schedule delivery - mar.

    • build deck - april

    • stain, style, and decorate deck - may

  • AND THEN FINALLY BREAK I BREAK THE GOAL INTO WEEKLY STEPS + DAILY TASKS - an example of how this might have looked in let’s say April when the goal was “build deck” would be this:

    • the weekly focus at the top of the month could have been “start deck project”

    • and then how this would get scheduled into my daily focus would look like:

      • saturday we clear out + prep the area where the deck will be built

      • and then sunday we position +install support posts into ground

I’m happy to report back the the deck project WAS BUILT and that VISION IS NOW A REALITY in our home. A space where we can enjoy morning coffee, hanging out by the pool, afternoon sunshine, etc. Projects like this can feel daunting like “when do we start” and for us, it helps to break it down into bite size chunks. Both on our mental health (so we’re not trying to cram too much into a little time frame) and also on our financial self care (so we don’t break the bank trying to bust out a project in a quick time). Since moving into our Florida home, we craved a spot in the backyard where we could enjoy the sun in the winter (it doesn’t hit the other side of the patio) and a better focal point for the end of the pool. And in our family, we create the things we crave. Methodically and intentionally. And I hope this inspires you to do the same.

Be sure to share this episode on your social and tag me so I can see what you’re loving + learning. And don’t forget that there are literally a few spots left for The Sisterhood Retreat and I’m closing enrollment IN ONE WEEK in real time as you listen. If you’re loving this framework we’re going to DEEP DIVE into it together at the retreat. I’d LOVE to be the one supporting you as you apply it to your own life and goals. Hit me up on INSTAGRAM or FB and just say I’M INTERESTED IN THE RETREAT and we can chat thru all the deets! Okay okay…I’m rooting for you and I love you so much. And I can’t wait to see you back here next time on The SELF CARE Sisterhood Podcast. 🖤🤟🏼
