Happy Happy SPRING SISTERHOOD!!! 🌼
I’m really excited for today’s topic but before we get into all things SPRING + how this time of year is the perfect time to do a little refresh (I’m gonna walk you thru all my fave ways to do so!)…I want to kick off with an ANNOUNCEMENT!!!
The VERY FIRST SISTERHOOD RETREAT is HAPPENING this August 30 - September 2nd ya’ll. This is something I’ve been ASKED to do many times by ya’ll and the house is booked here in Tampa, FL and plans are underway for an epic four days. Think SELF CARE meets GROWTH meets COMMUNITY. We’re taking out all the woo woo things a retreat might get a bad rep for and we’re meeting the woo with the WORK. I want you to walk away from these four days with a VISION for your BEST SELF + the goals SHE HAS, but also a PATHWAY to move toward her when you get home. It’s called PATHWAY TO PROGRESS and here’s what you need to know:
I’m creating a 3 day retreat specifically curated to take an EXHALE from the distractions and demands of life and RECONNECT with your values + vision. My goal is to provide you with tools, resources, support, and inspiration to RISE UP to your full potential and reignite your passion for pursuing your goals. It’s all inclusive minus the travel to get to the retreat AND I’m only taking the first 10 women who enroll so it’s GOING to be intimate and you’re GOING to want to snag your spot bc once the 10 are gone, enrollment closes.
SO HOW DO YOU KNOW IF THIS IS FOR YOU? 👯‍♀️ I’M GLAD YOU ASKED…
✻This is for the BUSY PROFESSIONAL. Juggling career, family, personal growth, all the things. And you’re seeking a retreat to pause and realign with your passions and calling.
✻This is for the DREAMER. Bursting with ideas, you want a space that helps you turn all of those ideas into manageable action steps so you can LIVE YOUR DREAMS OUT…not just think about them.
✻This is for the LOVING MAMA. Nurturing others and you often leave yourself on the back-burner, you know it’s time to give yourself a pause so you can LIVE OUT THE EXAMPLE you desire to be for your family.
✻This is for the CAREGIVERS. Giving so much to others leaves you depleted. And you need this retreat to replenish your spirit and remind you of your worth.
✻And this is for my GOAL GETTERS. Focused and driven, you thrive on setting ambitious goals and taking strategic steps to achieve them. But…in all the hustle and bustle of your busy life, sometimes you find yourself feeling overwhelmed or losing sight of your priorities. And you know this retreat will provide with the clarity, inspiration, and support you need to realign with her vision, refocus her energy, and create a tangible pathway to success.
If any of those were YOU…THE PATHWAY TO PROGRESS RETREAT IS FOR YOU. Like I said ENROLLMENT IS OPEN and once the 10 spots are gone they are GONE. Tap the link in the show notes or send me a DM on Instagram and I’ll get you the link! Okay…back to today’s topic - all things SPRING (+ Q2) REFRESH:
This is my FAVE time of year (well really…anytime the seasons change) to pause and take inventory of where I’m at in my journey. Living with FOCUS + INTENTION actually takes living with FOCUS + INTENTION, right? You’ve got to know what’s been getting your attention and your YES in order to see if it aligns with where you truly desire to move. A fresh season/quarter of the year is the PERFECT TIME to check in. Winter gives us space to go inward and when spring arrives, there’s a freshness that is energizing. Do you feel that? Spring is all about GROWTH and RENEWAL and today I want to walk you thru what I’m doing in REAL TIME in my life to make some shifts that will REFRESH ME for spring. Let’s dive in! 🖤
5 SHIFTS YOU CAN MAKE TO REFReSH YOUR ROUTINE FOR SPRING 🌼
â‘ Switch up your 5-9 routines (PM + AM) to align with LONGER DAYS.
I know we often hear about the 9-5, but have you ever considered your 5-9 routines? What you do BETWEEN your workdays? This time of year it’s especially key for me bc of daylight savings (if you don’t switch your clocks, bless you bc that ish is ROUGH on my internal body clock). Even if you don’t switch the clocks in the spring, the days are getting longer and there’s more sunlight available. In the winter, my husband Charles and I tend to have a routine post work that looks like cook dinner and then unwind in the living room + play with the dogs while we watch a show or two bc it’s dark outside. In the spring, it shifts. After dinner we have all sorts of daylight, so we end up taking our dogs for a walk post dinner and spending more time in the backyard. Switching up your PM routines and your AM routines to align more with the natural daylight you have available is super refreshing.
② Begin prepping your outdoor environments to be a vibe for summer.
And now that you’re (most likely) outdoors more…what do you even DO? For me…if I’m hanging outside in the backyard or on our patio…it needs to be a VIBE. Otherwise I’d rather be indoors. What does a vibe look like for you? For me the space need to FEEL like an extension of the home. If the backyard needs to be mowed. Or there’s weeds everywhere. Or the furniture needs to be wiped down after the winter weather. Or you need to sweep/vacuum the areas you walk. Or flowers need to be planted in pots or nurtured to come back to life. Whatever it is…there are things you can begin doing now to prep your outdoor environments for longer days and memories to be made. I want my outdoor to feel like an extension of the home so I clean and decorate it with the exact same intention. Inside I have clean + comfy places to sit and relax, so outside I make sure I have the same. Inside I have candles burning so outside I make sure I have the same (+ mosquito repellent too!). Inside I have good, vibey lighting, so outside I make sure there’s lighting on our patio and that we hang twinkle lights too. Inside I have a place to eat, so outside I set the environment up for outdoor cook outs and long pool days with friends. Inside I can get cozy so outside I make sure the same applies - blankets for cooler nights/mornings, a fire pit, even rugs on the patio so I can go barefoot. Are you getting it? The outside…make it an extension of the INSIDE and start working on it now so you can enjoy it all summer long.
③ Shift your wellness routine to include seasonal produce and more fresh air.
This is something I do every season - shift my wellness routine to align with the season I’m in. I’m an avid meal planner and to save money, keep the plan interesting (bc I get bored easily of the same recipes), and just have fresher, more nutrient dense food, I shop for seasonal produce and start implementing them into my recipes. A few of my fave spring options include asparagus, strawberries, and peas. But the other thing I do is I begin to find more ways to get fresh air into my day. Whether it’s starting the day out on my patio with my coffee to soak in the early morning sunlight on my face, or getting my bike back out and bike riding places more, or even simply opening my garage door while I’m working out to bring in natural light and fresh air…these are all simple ways to shift your wellness routine as the season shifts, too.
â‘Ł Swap out winter decor/scents/wardrobes for spring ones.
Environmental self care is one of my favorite areas to play around with and I’m sure you can tell from my motto that the outside should be an extension of the home, but it really matters. If the spaces and places you’re in are no longer inspiring you or rejuevenating you, then something has to shift. In the spring this looks like swapping out any winter decor for spring options. I’m pretty low key after Christmas…I honestly keep the home mostly neutral with pops of greenery and such, but this is an excellent time to do a deep clean while you swap out your decor. I love to swap out my bedroom sheets too from flannel ones to light and airy spring sheets. Another revamp I do is with my scents. All of my winter-y scents go away until next year and I bring out my fresh + fruity scents for spring. It also helps to open windows when you can and let a little of the fresh air in. And last…I look at my wardrobe. I don’t do any sort of major haul here, but I just make life easier on myself. The sweatshirts and leggings can go down a drawer and the easier to access drawers include my Qshorts, tanks, and tees.
⑤ Do a seasonal/quarterly check in for your goals.
Alright and the last thing I do as we dive into a fresh season and quarter of the year is something I KNOW is my super power when it comes to turning your VISIONS into REALITY.
A QUARTERLY (or SEASONAL) CHECK IN ON MY GOALS.
And bc I want you to enter spring feeling REFRESHED + READY for a new season, I want to take some extra time to walk you thru my QUARTERLY CHECK IN PROCESS.
WHAT IS A QUARTERLY CHECK IN?!
It’s a chance to check in on your goals and the methods you’re using to work toward them to see if they still align with your overall vision. As our seasons change (expectedly and unexpectedly) sometimes we have to shift our goals, too. Let me be the first to say that THAT IS OKAY! Goals are tools that help you MOVE FORWARD and MAKE PROGRESS. Not chains that keep you feeling like you’re falling short.
WHEN DO I DO A CHECK IN?!
At the start of a fresh quarter/season (think: January, April, July, October OR winter, spring, summer, and fall)
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE?!
At the top of the year I hosted a workshop called YOUR UNSTOPPABLE SELF and one of the things we talked about at the END of the workshop was not allowing your vision board to collect dust. Most people set goals at the top of a year and then never consider them again until it comes time to wrap up a year. By that time the goals seem SO FAR away. Both from the time you actually said you were committing to them and quite possibly, from how far you still need to go to make strides. It’s a vicious cycle and one that I realized wasn’t serving me. So nowadays, I have a much better way. Quarterly Check Ins. It’s a moment to slow down and intentionally look at what’s working and what’s not. Bc life isn’t linear. And sometimes our focus needs to shift. Assessing whether your goals are in alignment with your overall vision and tweak any methods / actions / behaviors that aren’t leading you closer to where you desire to move is gonna be YOUR SUPERPOWER to becoming unstoppable.
LET’S START BY REFLECTING…
Alright so the first thing I do when a fresh quarter is here is take a moment to reflect on where I’m currently at. Below are a few questions you can use as prompts to help get you going.
Reflection Q’s:
• What were my original goals for the year? (ps…this is an awesome time to set some goals if you haven’t!) Grab your VISION BOARD to help guide/remind you.
• What are you proud of/celebrating from last quarter?
• What didn’t work well last quarter? Why is that?
• What has been getting your attention? Is this in alignment with your goals?
• What have you been consistent with that is benefiting you + your goals? What have you been consistent with that is NOT benefiting you + your goals?
Q’s TO ASK TO MAKE MOVEMENT IN THE NEXT QUARTER
The next step is to PREP for the next season. This is where you take your POWER back, my friends. Where we don’t just allow the next 90 days to happen TO us, but instead we live with FOCUS and INTENTION understanding that our BEST SELVES come down to our CHOICES. Take a moment to ask yourself the following questions and journal your responses.
Q’s to Help you Prep for a FRESH SEASON:
• What would progress LOOK + FEEL like over the next 3 months?
• What are you committing to this SPRING?! Look at your VISION BOARD. What do you need to WORK TOWARDS?
• What new habits and routines do you need to implement to better support your vision? What needs to get added to your CALENDAR?
• What plans/responsibilities are coming up this season? Any obstacles that might get in your way?
So how do I actually take these questions and use them to my benefit? Well…while I’m journaling, I also grab my planner and my vision board, and I get to work at looking at what goals need the forefront of my focus for this season. This is where they aren’t simply WISHES…but they become the things I WORK towards.
For example. One of my goals this year is to build a deck for our outdoor pool space. Knowing that this spring the weather would be perfect AND that we’d want to ENJOY the deck in the summer…we decided to place this project IN OUR CALENDAR so that it gets our focus and attention. Each weekend we’ve been working around the deck build with other commitments so it gets our best YES.
Another example. One of my goals in terms of RECREATION + MEMORIES is to create a memorable trip for our 6th wedding anniversary to the Kentucky Derby. Knowing this is coming up this quarter, I’m making sure we are scheduling any extras we need to schedule (like Bourbon tastings, restaurants to try, etc). We’re also making sure to plan and prep our outfits bc that’s kind of a big deal when it comes to the Derby. I know all of this might sound so simple, but the moment is going to be that much BETTER bc I allowed it to have my focus and attention.
It’s also important to note that not everything on my vision board is set in stone. There might be things that are no longer FOR ME or maybe FOR THIS SEASON…and that’s okay bc there’s an organic ebb and flow to life. One example is that my vision board says I’ll VOLUNTEER IN TAMPA ONCE/MONTH and while that sounded like a great idea at the top of the year, it hasn’t aligned with my schedule. It doesn’t mean I’m a failure…it simply means that the goal isn’t maybe right for this season.
LAST THING I WANNA LEAVE YOU WITH…
What happens when you feel far behind? Or you’re not “there” yet? Or after reflecting you realize that you’ve 100% fallen short? Or gosh…maybe you just have a LOT going on?!
I get it. You just took time to reflect and game plan and you realize you haven’t been very focused or intentional with your goals. And I’ve been there before too. Part of the trap we get caught in on our journeys is the lie that the process should flow perfect. But friends. That’s. Not. Realistic. There’s this thing called life and as much as we can plan + prep…things happen and the outcome is often not in our control. That’s why ACTIONS are so powerful. I can’t control the outcome, but I can control how I show up and when I show up.
The instinct for so many is to give up. It’s why so many people set goals and never revisit them after the ball drops.
But INSTEAD of that instinct to just give up…let’s reassess. Evaluate. Get honest about where you’re at. Extend grace to yourself. And remember..
THE GOAL IS NOT ALWAYS THE PROBLEM. The problem is typically being off track.
So let this be the season that you GET BACK UP. Get on focused. Get intentional. Make it matter to you. No matter where you’re at in your journey, I know that taking time to pause and reflect on your goals, navigate where you’re off track so you can make tweaks/adjustments, and really dig into what needs focus + attention in the coming months is going to be a GAME CHANGER for your progress.
I hope this helped you get EXCITED for the rest of the year and I can’t wait to cheer you on as you make progress towards what matters most.
