LET’S DIVE IN. 🖤
Hey Hey Sisterhood!!! I’m so excited to introduce you to my friend + fellow lover of all things wellness - Heather Green.
Heather found out at age 11 that she had a rare form of bone cancer called Ewing Sarcoma and it completely changed the trajectory of her life. She went from an active and fully present child to bed ridden, isolated, and home schooled for three years while she under went chemo. Her story is so freaking inspiring ya’ll because as you’ll see, Heather just doesn’t give up. Our conversation is going to take you on the full journey of what it was like growing up, navigating having four babies after being told she would most likely NEVER conceive due to her illness and the medications she took to fight it, and even making a huge pivot in her life, health, and career after undergoing postpartum depression…all why during the pandemic when she was also stuck at home with a lot of fear of the unknown and future that many of us faced. Oh and four kids that she now had to juggle while making all of these changes.
Heather embodies the spirit of NEVER GIVE UP which is why she has created a MOVEMENT around that idea in her wellness business. I seriously can’t wait for you to hear her story. Let’s dive in. 🖤
KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM THIS EPISODE 👇🏼
① From an active and social child to fighting a rare form of bone cancer, Heather walks us thru the reality of what that was like to be diagnosed at 11 years old with Ewing Sarcoma Bone Cancer. It was like an OFF ON switch and her life took a radical turn. We talk about how this felt as a child. How she imagine it felt for her parents and the small town she lived in. And then also how it feels now that she’s a mama and has children who are approaching that same age.
② We also dive into how KEY community was + the support system she and her parents had during that time. And this core value has followed her into her life today - building a community BEFORE you actually need the community. Heather talks to us about how to get courageous when you’re struggling and allow the people close to you to hold you accountable. She also reminds us to trust that your community will build + ripple out when you get laser focused on who you’re doing it for and why.
③ Heather shares about how she was told that she would most likely never conceive a child and how an unexpected pregnancy in college gave her life a radical turn all over again. Heather is now mom to 4 and takes that role really seriously, esp when it comes to her example of living out her dreams. But postpartum depression kicked in hard after her fourth and she was 100 lbs heavier after 4 pregnancies than she had started as a college athlete. Heather lost herself a little bit and she walks us thru the road to getting herself back.
④ And the underlying theme of all of this is to NEVER GIVE UP. This theme has been a woven thread her whole life and we talk thru what this looks like and how she supports this movement in the work she does.
