② The 8 Types of SELF CARE
③ Top SELF CARE TRENDS for each area in 2024

Hello hello friends! And welcome back to The Self-Care Sisterhood podcast. One of my favorite things to do at the top of the year is peek into what's popular and new when it comes to our wellness. I'm a wellness junkie...the one who is trying that new supplement, wearing that sleep ring, testing out that new fitness trend. And bc of that, I love staying in the loop on what's on the rise. Today, I'm passing that info along to you— the top wellness trends that are taking over 2025 and also why I think you would benefit from riding their wave. If you’re ready to level up your wellness game in 2025, this episode is for you. To me, these 7 trends I'm going to share aren’t the kind that will fizzle out any time soon—in fact, I think sometimes the trendiest thing is getting back to the basics of our wellness. These are timeless trends and also trends that are on the rise due to recent technology upgrades in the AI world. And truly, I believe that they'll be game-changers for how we care for ourselves inside and out if we choose to embody their benefits and give them space in our lives this year. So, let’s dive into what’s coming and why it matters for your wellness journey in 2025.

7 WELLNESS TRENDS ON THE RISE in 2025:

1. SLEEP IS THE NEW FIT.

IDK about you, but I really think hustle culture is dying. At least I hope so bc as a recovering workaholic and someone who has met burnout too many times—2025 for me, is all about prioritizing rest. And not just rest. But QUALITY rest. And that's where I think sleep is trending upward.

A couple things I'm seeing that are leveling up our sleep game:

  • Advanced sleep trackers like the Oura Ring

  • Creating cozy, tech-free bedrooms

  • Weighted blankets that make you feel like you're sleeping in a hug

  • AI-driven sleep tools that help you optimize your night—from apps to guided routines to bedtime stories for adults—there's so much out there right now to help you wind down from the day

  • Even retreats designed to help you rest and reset

People are finally seeing that there is POWER in getting good, quality sleep and I'm here for it. I truly used to have the mentality that "I’ll sleep when I’m dead" but now I truly live in the space where I know in order to do meaningful work, I have to prioritize rest. And I promise you, if you lean into this in 2025 it won't just be trendy—it’ll be transformational. And I love that for you.

2. HORMONE HEALTH GETS THE MIC.

I hate to admit how LOST and in the dark I’ve been about hormone health and what happens in our bodies as women during perimenopause and menopause. But that’s really shifted mainly bc the conversation is opening wider and wider for women to advocate for themselves and I LOVE THIS. The insomnia. The changes in your body composition. The anger and rage you feel for no real reason at all. It’s enough to make you feel like you’re going crazy and I love that this conversation gets to normalize what is happening in our bodies as women as we age. I’m sure you’ve already seen it on the rise, but in 2025, hormone health is finally getting the attention it deserves. Whether you’re navigating perimenopause, tackling irregular cycles, or just trying to feel more balanced in your emotions, there’s so much happening in this space and I’m here for it.

Here’s what’s trending in hormone health:

  • At-home testing kits for checking hormone levels

  • Apps that help you track and sync with your cycle

  • Bioidentical hormone therapy is becoming more accessible; this treatment uses hormones that are chemically identical to those produced by the body to treat people with low or unbalanced hormone levels. It can help with symptoms of perimenopause and menopause like hot flashes, insomnia, weight gain, mental fog, and mood changes.

  • Education breaking down stigmas around perimenopause and hormonal health and real solutions for women beyond doctors telling us “its menopause” and sending us home to live the next 40 years in suffering.

This shift isn’t just about managing symptoms—it’s about optimizing how we feel day to day. Whether it’s reducing stress or boosting energy, hormone health is becoming a cornerstone of wellness instead of this thing we brush under a rug, and I’m super pumped to see it grow.

3. HOT + COLD THERAPY.

Ya’ll. One of my FAVE trends is on the rise and it’s for good reason. It leaves your body and your mind feeling UH MAZE ING. Years ago, my husband Charlie and I used to go to this place in California called Water Course Way (shout out!!!) where we would book an hour in a private room and get to use the cold plunge, sauna, and hot tub in a contrast therapy setting. And we’re ALWAYS on the hunt for these kinds of spaces. While we were traveling in Alaska this last year we found an amazing spa that provided an entire hot/cold journey for you to go on and we literally went multiple times during our stay. If you’ve never tried stepping into a freezing cold plunge, only to follow it up with a warm, soothing sauna session you are missing out. It might sound intense, but it’s becoming one of the hottest (and coolest) trends of 2025.

What’s making contrast therapy so hot this year?

  • Gyms and wellness centers offering contrast therapy as a part of their memberships

  • Portable at-home saunas and ice tubs are also gaining popularity. I think I even saw Costco had a really nice Sauna out for a decent price. But pro tip if you’re going to get a cold plunge…you truly need a CHILLER if you’re gonna get the most out of your experience. Buying a $99 plunge and then trying to clean it out and fill it with ice every time is gonna get old, so if you’re gonna do it…DO IT and get the chiller.

  • The benefits: faster recovery, better circulation, and improved mental clarity, boosted energy and immune system, lowered inflammation. Literally all the things.

And if you’re new to this, don’t be intimidated! Start slow—maybe a quick cold rinse after you shower or dunk your face in an large bowl filled with ice. I promise you will start to get hooked after you feel the benefits on the other side. My friend Kori always says that we don’t plunge to get good at cold plunging; we plunge to get good at life. And I love that.

4. FUN, FUNCTIONAL FITNESS.

Let’s be real—working out should feel good, not like a punishment. Yes we should challenge ourselves from time to time, but I think GONE are the days of simply beating ourselves up to look a certain way. Amen? We’re seeing a lot of fitness trends in 2025 incorporating having fun and also not burning out along the way.

Here’s what’s trending in the fitness world:

  • Workouts that aren’t so tough on the body—like barre or pilates

  • Functional fitness programs that focus on strength and mobility

  • Even gamification is happening as we see Peloton Lanebreak where you combine fitness with video gaming, wracking up points while you ride

And the best part? It’s not about being perfect. You can go into these classes and work to find joy in movement and creating a fitness routine you actually look forward to. And I think that’s important. Because you can’t hate your way into loving your body, right? If you hate showing up to the workouts, you’ll give up. Period. So this year, whether you’re mastering a new skill or just moving for fun, the goal is to make fitness a sustainable part of your life…one that isn’t just a resolution, but is a woven thread in who you are and how you take care of yourself.

5. SELF CARE GOES SOCIAL.

Post pandemic we are seeing that people don’t just want to get back out in public the same way, they want to do it surrounded by like-hearted humans with similar interests. So in 2025, social self care is something that I definitely know will be on the rise, and it’s all about finding ways to nurture yourself while building meaningful relationships.

Here’s what I’m loving about this trend:

  • Run clubs and cold-plunge meetups bringing people together. They say run clubs are the new dating apps and we even have a coffee + cold plunge business here in the St Petersburg, FL area that gets people together on Sundays in various locations for coffee and cold plunges, but also…community.

  • Third spaces like yoga studios with juice bars or cozy cafes are on the rise. I’m gonna leak a fun surprise coming in our family that we’ve been working on and it’s a coffee shop we’re opening here in the Gulf Coast area. And this is our vision. How can we create a third space that also brings people together in like-hearted community thru cycling meet ups, run clubs, book clubs, and more?

  • Events and retreats focused on wellness and connection— which ya’ll know is my jam, right? Exactly why The Sisterhood Retreat exists because we weren’t made to do life or our journeys alone.

Wellness thrives in community, and I think this trend is proof of that. Whether you’re joining a group class or just inviting a friend to your favorite self-care ritual, there’s power in doing it together.

6. ALCOHOL FREE LIVING.

Raise your hand if you’ve noticed more zero-proof/mocktail options popping up on menus lately! I am LOVING this and here for it. Especially in bar settings where you might feel pressured to have a drink in your hand while socializing. Alcohol-free living isn’t about missing out—it’s about feeling your best and redefining your relationship with alcohol—something I’ve been working on for the past few years for sure!

Here’s what’s trending in this space:

  • Alcohol-free bars + shops creating social spaces + options for everyone

  • Adaptogenic drinks and zero-proof wines offering creative alternatives

  • Movements like Dry January and Sober October becoming more common

  • So. Many. Mocktail recipes + accounts popping up on social and they are my FAVE to follow to get fresh ideas.

One of the best things I did in 2024 was track my alcohol free days in my planner. My planner has a spot where I can habit track each week, so that was one of the things I tracked all year long and YA’LL…it wasn’t about going AF it was simply about becoming AWARE of my consumption. So whether you’re going fully sober this year or just experimenting with cutting back, I highly encourage tracking what your relationship + intake with alcohol looks like so you can become more aware if that choice is really serving you or not.

7. MORE OPTIONS FOR OUR MENTAL HEALTH.

Alright ya’ll. We made it to the final trend and it’s last, but it’s probably most close to my heart—mental health. If there’s one area where I’m seeing incredible progress, it’s here. In 2025, we’re seeing more options, more accessibility, and a whole lot less stigma and that makes me so so happy.

What’s on the rise in mental health care?

  • Apps offering on-demand therapy and mindfulness practices; like Calm, Headspace, and BetterHelp therapy

  • Normalization of somatic therapy and trauma-informed care. Trauma can register within our bodies on a cellular level. And so somatic therapy explores how the body expresses deeply painful experiences, applying mind-body healing to aid with trauma recovery.

  • Increased research and accessibility for therapeutic use of psychedelics in mental health treatment. And I can speak from personal experience that this has radically improved my mental health journey.

I love that mental health is becoming more inclusive and innovative. And also that it’s becoming normal for EVERYONE to care for their mental health. No matter where you’re starting from, there’s a tool or resource that can meet you where you are so don’t be afraid to dive into your mental hygiene routines in 2025.

And there you have it—7 wellness trends taking over 2025—

LEVERAGING QUALITY SLEEP
MORE SUPPORT FOR HORMONE HEALTH
HOT + COLD EXPOSURE THERAPY
MAKING FITNESS FUN + SUSTAINABLE
SELF CARE GOING SOCIAL
ALCOHOL FREE LIFESTYLE OPTIONS
AND MORE OPTIONS FOR OUR MENTAL HEALTH JOURNEY

I don’t see any of these as passing fads; they’re upgrades to how we’ve been viewing our wellness and showing up to it that can help you feel better, live better, and thrive. And who doesn’t want that?! Whether it’s prioritizing sleep, exploring hormone health, or finding your community through social self-care, there’s something here for everyone.
